DeckLearn turns any CSV into a flashcard deck. Need a hand? Email
tuckermojo@gmail.com and I'll get back to you.
Requirements
iPhone running iOS 17 or later
Getting started
How do I import a deck?
Tap the + button (or Import CSV on the empty
screen) and pick a CSV file. DeckLearn shows you a preview where you choose
which column becomes the front of the card and which becomes the back, then
names the deck for you.
What should my CSV look like?
Two columns — the question and the answer. A header row like
front, back or question, answer is detected and
skipped automatically. Fields containing commas work fine if they're wrapped
in quotes, e.g. "Washington, D.C." Files with more than two
columns are supported — you pick which two to use.
How do I get a CSV onto my iPhone?
Save it to iCloud Drive or the Files app, or AirDrop it from a Mac.
DeckLearn's importer reads from the Files app. Most spreadsheet apps,
including Numbers, Excel, and Google Sheets, can export to CSV.
Can I add cards without a CSV?
Yes. Open any deck and tap the + next to the Cards heading.
The sheet stays open after each card so you can add several in a row.
Studying
How does a card become mastered?
By default, a card is mastered after three correct answers in a row. You can
change that number per deck under Deck Settings → Mastery streak.
Missing a card resets its streak.
What are the three study modes?
Shuffle gives a fresh random order every pass.
In Order follows the order from your CSV.
Weakest First puts the cards you've missed first, then new
cards. In every mode, new cards come before ones you've seen, and the same
card never appears twice in a row.
What are reversible cards?
Turn on Reversible cards for a deck and DeckLearn will quiz
you in both directions — showing the front and asking for the back, and also
the reverse. Each direction builds its own streak, and a card is mastered only
once both directions are complete. Use Study direction to
focus on one direction at a time.
Why did a mastered card come back?
That's a spot check. Mastered cards are occasionally mixed back into a session
so they stay fresh. Adjust the frequency, or turn it off entirely, under
Deck Settings → Mastered spot checks.
I graded a card by mistake.
Tap the undo arrow at the top left of the quiz screen. It takes back your most
recent answer and returns you to that card.
Your data
Where is my progress stored?
On your device. DeckLearn has no account and no cloud — nothing is uploaded.
See the Privacy Policy for details.
How do I reset progress?
Reset a single card from the … menu on its row, or reset an
entire deck from the … menu at the top right of the deck
screen. Resetting clears streaks and stats but keeps the cards.
Will I lose my decks if I delete the app?
Yes — deleting DeckLearn permanently removes all decks and progress from your
device. Keep your original CSV files if you want to re-import later.
